- DO YOU NEED A REWIRE?
Does Your Home Need a Rewire?
Structured rewire installations designed for long-term safety, reliability and modern living.
A full rewire is usually recommended where an existing electrical installation is no longer suitable for modern use, cannot be safely upgraded, or no longer meets the demands of the property.
Typical situations include:
- Older electrical installations, especially where previous work is unknown
- Little or no earthing, or inadequate main bonding
- Frequent tripping, blown fuses or recurring electrical faults
- Discoloured or cracked sockets and switches
- A lack of sockets for modern living
- Burning smells, scorch marks or signs of overheating
A rewire can also redesign your electrical layout around how you use your home. If you’re renovating, read more on our Renovations & Extensions page.
Not sure if you need a rewire? An Electrical Safety Inspection (EICR) can check your wiring and help you decide.
- WHAT’S INCLUDED AS STANDARD
What’s Included With Every Rewire
Every installation is designed with long-term reliability, future expansion, and ease of maintenance in mind. As standard this includes:
- New RCBO-protected consumer unit, designed for future additions
- Meter tails, earthing and bonding checked and upgraded where required
- Improved lighting circuits for durability and performance
- Cable protection or conduit installed where appropriate
- Heat and smoke detection installed to current standards
- Full testing, certification and Part P notification upon completion
- BUILT TO LAST
Designed for Long-Term Reliability
Electrical installations are not just about meeting minimum standards. They need to perform safely and reliably for years to come.
We design every rewire with long-term use in mind, choosing suitable cable sizes, protective devices and containment to avoid unnecessary overloading.
Cable grouping, insulation, ventilation and expected demand are also considered so circuits can operate safely under real use.
Not all rewires are equal. Two installations may both pass inspection, but long-term reliability depends on the design choices made during installation.
Built not just to pass inspection, but to perform reliably for decades.

- YOUR QUOTE
Every Rewire Begins With a Detailed Scope of Works
Every rewire begins with a detailed scope of works and formal quotation following a room-by-room project review, so you know exactly what work is being carried out, how each area of the property is being covered, and what is included before the project starts. This structured approach helps reduce confusion, avoid unexpected costs, and keep the installation running smoothly from start to finish.

- COMMON QUESTIONS
Full House Rewire — Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my house needs a rewire?
Common signs include old fuse boards, fabric or rubber wiring, frequent tripping, damaged accessories, or a lack of sockets and circuits for modern living.
If you’re unsure, an Electrical Safety Inspection (EICR) can assess the condition of the installation and help determine whether remedial works or a full rewire may be appropriate.
Read more on our Electrical Safety Inspection (EICR) page.
How long does a rewire take?
Most full rewires typically take around 3–5 weeks depending on the size of the property, specification, site conditions, and any associated works being completed alongside the installation.
Indicative timings are discussed during survey and clearly outlined before work begins.
Do we need to move out during the work?
Ideally, yes.
Vacant properties are generally quicker, cleaner, and more cost-effective to rewire. However, live-in rewires are still possible and we can structure the works around occupied homes where required.
We’ll discuss the most practical approach during survey and planning.
Will there be damage to walls and ceilings?
Yes – some disruption is unavoidable during a rewire.
Access is often required through walls, ceilings, floorboards, skirting boards, and occasionally coving to route new cabling correctly.
We carefully plan cable routes and use dust-controlled equipment where possible to help minimise disruption. Repair and reinstatement options can also be discussed during planning.
Do you remove waste from the project?
Waste removal is not normally included within our standard pricing.
Many customers prefer to manage waste themselves as part of controlling overall project costs. Where required, we can arrange waste removal through a trusted local waste management partner.
Accurate waste removal costs are normally confirmed towards the end of the project once the full volume and type of waste is known.
What happens before installation begins?
Before work starts, we carry out a pre-start project review call and on-site mark-up visit to confirm layouts, access arrangements, specifications, and final positioning of sockets, switches, and lighting.
This helps ensure everything is agreed before installation begins.
Can additional works be included during the project?
Additional electrical upgrades and associated works can often be incorporated into the project where discussed and agreed in advance.
If additional works arise during the installation, these are clearly discussed before any extra work is carried out.
Read more in our Managing Variations During Your Project guide.
Do you offer other services alongside the rewire?
Yes – where required, we can coordinate associated works through trusted third-party contractors we regularly work alongside.
This may include plastering, decoration, cleaning, joinery works, alarm systems, CCTV installation, and other project support services.
What certification will I receive?
Upon completion, you’ll receive full electrical certification, testing results, and Building Regulations notification where applicable.
All work is completed in accordance with current UK wiring regulations.
Is the work guaranteed?
Yes.
All rewire installations are supported by a 3-year workmanship guarantee for additional peace of mind.

I’ve used Matt a couple of times now and can’t recommend him highly enough. On both occasions I needed the work done quickly, and he went out of his way to rearrange his schedule so nothing was delayed. He also gave really helpful advice on choosing the right light fittings and bathroom heater, which made the whole process much easier. Matt is quick to respond, extremely polite, and an all-round great guy. He’s the only electrician I’d use now. Thanks again, Matt!Posted on MartinTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We have used Matt for installing a door bell and connecting a new ceiling light. Matt did a great job, i explained to him what I was wanting it to do and Matt gave me a choice of what would work and explain the pro’s and con’s of them both. Once fitted Matt was happy to explain how it worked as i had chosen one with Wi Fi. Everything was left clean and tidy, Matt was friendly and always happy to help. Matt did an amazing job rewiring our whole 1930s house! He’s very professional, friendly, tidy, and always happy to answer any questions. He explained how everything works and did both the first and second fix perfectly. We changed our minds about some of the fixtures, and Matt didn’t hesitate to sort it out for us. He also installed LED lights on our staircase, and even though our decoration part isn't quite ready, they look absolutely stunning! We’re really happy with his work and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a reliable and skilled electrician!
